This is a sweet vintage theorem painting of pansies in a basket – signed by Maura Campbell with her initials in the lower right. It has multi color pansies on a cream background in a gold edged wood frame. It has a lovely soft look that would lend itself to many types of décor. The work is framed in wood and behind glass. It is backed with very pretty paper and has an original label that tells the history of Theorem Painting. Theorem painting is the Early American Folk art of painting in oil on velvet through a series of closely aligned stencils. The backing paper has no nicks and is still tight to the back of the frame. The frame and glass are in very good condition with the frame showing a tiny bit of wear. It’s a very charming piece.
