This lovely antique brass hand warmer is a unique piece of history. Chinese hand warmers were filled with hot coals to provide warmth during cold weather. The piereced lids allowed the heat to escape.
This wonderful piece features two scalloped shape swing handles. The lid is removable and has intricate all-over piercings featuring scrolls and florals. The body is softly ribbed and features a Greek key design at the top and each panel is engraved with florals and a Greek key background. The base also has a sweet scrolling vine design all around. It's a lovely piece of historical artwork.
The brass is in very nice condition and shows beautifully. The inside has been well used and still shows the remains of coal use. The handles are hinged, well attached and swing freely. This piece would make a wonderful collectible for anyone interested in antique Chinese metalwork art.
