Vintage small wooden desktop globe – made in Italy. There is wonderful detail and interesting graphics on this little globe which sits in a wooden stand with four legs and features Zodiac signs around the rim. The writing on the globe seems to be in Italian or possibly Latin.
The stand is sturdy and all the joints are tight and it holds the globe firmly in place with two side slots and a bottom slot. The globe has brass finials at the top and bottom and the vertical wooden ring around the globe seems to show time and latitude but we can’t be sure as it is probably written in Italian. It shows beautifully. The original label is still on the bottom of the stand and reads “Olde World Globe - Made in Italy”.
It’s quite a charming piece that is both decorative and educational. Nice in a living room, office or as shelf décor.
